Teej 2015

Like every year, Haritalika Teej was celebrated with enthusiasm on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at William-Hingston, 415 St-Roch Montreal.

Dressed in all red and best of their jewelry, all the women participants celebrated the festival with great zeal.  The program commenced with the Teej wishes to one another followed by a buffet of homemade delight.  Various kinds of sweets were also served. Children specially seem to enjoy the sweets that is eaten during Teej festivities.  Then the ladies in red danced to traditional and modern Teej songs.

Married women fast for the whole day on this very day for the prosperity of their husbands whereas unmarried women fast to be blessed with a caring and loving husband. The festival is a three day celebration, starting with a feast known as "Dar". A day after the feast, women fast for an entire day praying for marital bliss, good health and longevity of their spouses.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the participants and keeping up the spirit of tradition alive.
