ANQ organized its annual picnic on Saturday, 20th July 2019 at Mount Royal Park in Montreal starting from 11 am to 6 pm. A huge number of Nepali community members, newcomer families and guests from Montreal Island, surrounding and Ottawa came to join the ANQ summer picnic. The weather turned out to be very nice and sunny.
The picnic commenced with snacks, followed by the welcome program of the new Nepali ambassador to Canada. Along with our Nepalese family and friends, we were honored to have H.E Mr. Bhrigu Dhungana and his spouse Mrs. Sangita Dhungana from Embassy of Nepal to participate in the picnic. Mr. Dhungana expressed his happiness to have the opportunity to participate in the program. He highlighted the purpose of the Embassy and said that the service to Nepali community, security of the Nepalese people in Canada and the relationship between two countries are the key factors. ANQ President Yubaraj Bhandari welcomed H.E Mr. Dhungana and family and wished a successful tenure. He highly appreciated Nepali community in Montreal for their continued support and generosity, and thanked all for attending the event. The short welcome session was hosted by ANQ Secretary Rishi Shrestha.
Several fun games were organized for children and adults after the lunch. The prizes were granted to the winners. The games were mainly hosted by ANQ Executive Member Sitaram Dhakal. People enjoyed the food served by Thanjai Restaurant. The food was delicious and more than enough for everyone. The participants contributed only $10 CAN per family and the entire cost of food and everything else was sponsored by ANQ except the drinking water was sponsored by Pabitra Upadhaya/Geeta Baral.
People sang playing Nepali musical instrument ‘Madal’, danced, mingled, talked and did some catching up with their friends. Special thanks to Geeta Baral, Mala Budha Magar (Registration), Rishi Shrestha (Food), Sitaram Dhakal (Games), Vivek Dwivedy/Salyan Bhattarai (Camera) and all other executive members/volunteers who put their entire energy to make the event a great success.
ANQ would like to sincerely thank all the participants, guests, volunteers and the Thanjai Resturant. We appreciate their continued support. We look forward to seeing all at our next event.
