January 25, 2025

On January 25, 2025, the Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) held its annual winter event at the Centre de la Nature in Laval, welcoming both children and adults for the first time. Traditionally a children’s-only event, this year’s gathering marked a fun winter activity for all ages.

The event, which ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., attracted 35 participants from Nepali community, who were invited to join in a variety of activities organized by the City of Laval. Attendees enjoyed a range of outdoor winter experiences, including practicing hockey on the ice rink, skating on the large frozen lake, snow sliding, and tubing. The day also featured a free concert, adding a warm and vibrant atmosphere to the chilly day.

The event concluded with light snacks and coffee, giving participants a chance to relax and mingle. The inclusion of adult activities was particularly well-received, as it allowed people of all ages to enjoy the winter fun together.

ANQ’s commitment to offering accessible and inclusive community events was clearly reflected in the success of this year’s winter gathering. By expanding the event’s offerings to both children and adults, ANQ brought together Nepali families, who enjoyed the beautiful snowy surroundings of Centre de la Nature.

This initiative highlights ANQ's ongoing effort to strengthen community ties and foster a sense of belonging for everyone in Laval. To see photos from the event, be sure to visit ANQ's Facebook page.
