The 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) took place on March 16, 2025, at 3333 Chemin de la Côte Ste-Catherine, Montréal, Québec H3T 1C8. The meeting, which was attended by members, advisors, and executives, provided an opportunity to review the past year's activities and accomplishments. ANQ President, Mr. Deep Nandan Achhami, and General Secretary, Dr. Salyan Bhattarai, opened the meeting with a warm welcome, and both the general and financial reports were shared with attendees.
The financial report showed a net surplus of $6,467.08, while the general report highlighted key events such as the Nepali New Year celebration, the Annual Picnic and BBQ, and the launch of a new website. The advisors provided valuable feedback, including suggestions for improving the website's functionality and expanding sub-committee meetings. They also emphasized the importance of sustaining the positive momentum and addressing concerns such as increasing student participation and promoting membership transparency.
At the AGM, President Mr. Deep Nandan Achhami proposed a new rule to address concerns about individuals joining the association at the last moment of AGM only to influence elections and the future direction of ANQ. The proposal, which requires members to be enrolled at least two months before the election to participate, was unanimously approved by all members for future AGMs.
The meeting concluded with a Q&A session where members discussed potential collaborations with other Nepali groups and further steps to engage the community. In his closing remarks, Vice-President Mr. Khemraj Baral thanked everyone for their support, and the meeting was officially adjourned at 3:30 PM. ANQ remains committed to growing its impact and fostering stronger community connections in the coming year.
