The Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) proudly concluded its 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 9, 2025, held at 3333 Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal, Quebec (H3T 1C8), from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The gathering marked another milestone in ANQ’s continued journey of community service, unity, and engagement. The event was filled with meaningful discussions, heartfelt gratitude, and a renewed commitment to strengthening the Nepali community in Quebec.

The meeting began with the nomination of Advisor Prakash Mugranti as the presiding officer, who formally opened the session and guided the proceedings. One of the major highlights of the day was the election of the new executive committee for the 2025–2027 term. Following the dissolution of the outgoing board, an independent election committee—comprising Pabitra Upadhyaya, Dr. Hemant Poudyal, and Man Bahadur Limbu—conducted the election process with fairness and transparency.

During the meeting, Dr. Salyan Bhattarai, General Secretary, presented a detailed summary of ANQ’s activities over the past two years, highlighting significant events, accomplishments, and community initiatives. President Deep Nandam Achami extended his sincere gratitude to the community, executive members, advisors, artists, sponsors, and volunteers for their tireless support and collaboration throughout his term. Treasurer Saurav Gautam presented a comprehensive financial report outlining event-based income and expenditures, along with the annual summary, which was well received by attendees.

For the position of President, two candidates—Mahendra Raj Karki and Dinesh Majhi—contested in a democratic vote. Out of 53 total votes cast, Mahendra Raj Karki received 37 votes, while Dinesh Majhi secured 16 votes, leading to Mahendra’s election as the new President of ANQ. The remaining executive members were selected unopposed.

The newly elected President, Mahendra Raj Karki, expressed deep appreciation to all members for their trust and to the outgoing team for their remarkable contributions. He promised to work with dedication, transparency, and inclusiveness to further strengthen ANQ’s goal and promote community unity. Other newly elected members echoed similar sentiments, expressing enthusiasm and commitment to advance the organization’s objectives in the years ahead.

The AGM concluded on a warm and celebratory note with a delicious Nepali lunch served to all attendees, fostering friendship, cultural connection, and community spirit. The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting ANQ’s strong sense of togetherness and shared purpose.
